With over 90% (estimated) businesses in India using Tally.ERP 9 (and earlier versions), there falls on us a tremendous responsibility to further ease availability and affordability. Your feedback has reached us – We hear you!
Tally.ERP 9 is now available in a rental model. Simply put, you can now pay per quarter or even per month of use.
At 10% per quarter (around 3% per month) we believe that with this model, ALL your general & special needs have been addressed:
• If you are presently operating in an environment where Capital Expenses are constrained –
the rental model offers you the freedom to operate in an Operating Expenses mode.
• There is sometimes the need for an additional license for short term use:
• A project site that will be operational for a few months
• An occasional use on a notebook while travelling
• An off-site festival/promotional sale
• For Silver edition sites, there can arise the need for additional users:
• During audits or unanticipated peak loads, you can rent a Silver or Gold edition while your
regular work continues as usual
• During initial implementation such additional rental licenses can be used to punch in old
entries, while you take full advantage of Tally.ERP 9 from day one for current business
operations
• As a Tally education partner, rental opens up a new world of convenience:
• With government and NGO thrust on vocational training programs to help making people
employment-ready, the demand for Tally.ERP 9 training at hundreds or small locations
RENTAL PRICES
The price for rental follows the Power of Simplicity® that we strive for in everything we do:
The price of rental is 10% per quarter (3 months) of the regular (perpetual) license price of the corresponding edition, and 1/3rd per month.
For Tally.ERP 9 Gold (India/SAARC) the product price is INR 40,500. Therefore:
• The per quarter rental charge is INR 4,050
• The per month rental charge is INR 1,350
For Silver edition the above figures are, for the product price of INR 13,500:
• Quarterly – INR 1,350
• Monthly – INR 450
All taxes are included in the above.
The price also includes Tally.NET, with all the features available under this, including Remote Access.
To make things simpler, you can move from Silver to Gold and from Gold to Silver during the rental period as well (using a simple formula).
The pricing depends on the calendar and not on use – so a one month rental license will expire after 30 days (quarterly after 90 days) from activation – and not on the number of days that you actually use the license.
For all practical purposes a rental license is no different from a ‘regular’ license, and you will have all the features and capabilities like the use of Support Centre & Control Centre, and access to our support department via chat, e-mail and toll-free telephonic support.
From a license management perspective, each rental license becomes part of your account as sites, and get full benefit of the enhanced manageability capabilities that Tally.ERP 9 brings to the table.
Renewal Options
Any time before, or just after the expiry of your rental period you have two options to continue the full use of Tally.ERP 9:
• You acquire a perpetual (regular) license of Tally.ERP 9. You can do this from within Tally.ERP 9 itself, paying by credit card or via Tally Currency (that you can buy from your nearest Tally dealer). Alternatively you can pick up a license pack from our dealers.
• You extend the rental license period by as many months or quarters you want to – by credit card or by Tally Currency, from within Tally.ERP 9 itself.
Some frequently asked questions:
• I do not renew. Will my data be intact?
Yes. Your data continues to be portable. You can use this at other sites or with other licenses of Tally.ERP 9.
• Can I move from perpetual to rental, and get a refund?
No. You can move from rental to perpetual and not the other way round.
• Do I get a rebate while moving from rental to perpetual?
No. In all cases the perpetual license is at the normal price – no rebates or discounts are available.
• Is rental the same as hire-purchase? Will I get a perpetual license if I pay rental for so many months?
No. Tally.ERP 9 – Rental is analogous to taking a house or office on rent.

Did you know…?
To view the details of the current voucher in reports where transactions are listed, highlight the transaction and press Enter. To view details of the following voucher, press Page down button. Press Page up button to view details of the previous voucher (prior to the current one).
Consider the following Daybook report.
Highlight the transaction as shown. Press Enter. Voucher Alteration (Secondary) screen displays. Press Page down to view Receipt No. 3 and press Page Up to view Payment No.3 in voucher detail.

Licensing
Tally.ERP 9 is now available in a rental model (from 23rd August 2009). Simply put, you can now pay per quarter or even per month of use. At the end of the rental period, the license can be extended or regularised.
Installer
A Silent Installation, to perform unattended installations in large numbers by using a script file, without prompting for installation parameters, has been introduced.
The installer now supports Multi-Product License Server installations. E.g. The License Server can serve Tally.ERP 9, Tally.Developer 9 and Shoper 9 licenses from one installation of the license server.
Export/Import
An option Location of Export Files has been provided in the F12 > Data Configuration screen to allow the user to select the default path where the Exported files will be stored.
Accounting Reports
Option to displays Cumulative balances (Running Balance) for Ledger Voucher reports is now available.
Excise for Dealers
Excise Closing Stock Report is available. By exporting this report (as XML) and importing this, opening balances issues in a split company are resolved.
Selection of same Stock Item Multiple Times in Dealer Excise Purchase Invoice is available. The impact of this in all associated reports is also updated.
Excise for Manufacturers
RG 23A Part II, RG 23C Part II and their respective Annexure 10 & Abstracts are provided. Note that Stat.900 Ver. 89 and above is required (also available with this release).
Option to print Excise Details of Company and Customer in Purchase Orders, Delivery Notes, Sales Orders and Receipt Notes is available.
Knowledge Base
Access to Online Help is enabled from Tally.ERP 9 using Alt + H. You now have an option choose from Online and Local Help. Online Help provides access to Technical & Functional Articles, FAQs, Troubleshooting Methodologies and Case Studies available in our Knowledge Base.
Payroll
Payslip Note: An Option to print a general note that will appear in the Payslip at the end instead of the Authorised Signatory is provided. e.g. This is a Computer generated Payslip and does not require any signature.
Payslip Message: An option to print messages which will appear on all the Payslips for a particular occasion while printing or E-mailing the payslip. e.g. Wish you a Happy New Year!
Employee Filter options are provided before opening the Pay Sheet report for faster access when the data size is large by selecting and viewing the Pay Sheet for selected Payroll Category or Employee Group.
Payment Advice Date: The option to enter the user defined date is provided while printing the Payment Advice for Salary Payment.
The option to print the Payroll Voucher with details of Employee wise salary break-up has been provided.
Performance
There are considerable improvements in speed while accessing the Sales Register, Purchase Register, specific voucher selection from Day Book report, specific voucher selection fromStatistics, Purchase and Sales Order Book and other related specific & filter voucher collection reports.
TDS
TDS calculation on Contract or Sub-Contracts on Net Amount is supported.
During data migration from earlier version to Tally.ERP 9, TDS details in a few vouchers would not migrate. A Party-wise Track Migrate Vouchers report is now available, which will list the non-migrated vouchers with reasons, making it easy for you to make the necessary changes.
TDS calculation in Purchase Voucher (in Item Invoice mode) with Voucher Class is supported.
TCS
TCS Entries using Voucher Class where multiple taxes in an invoice are needed is supported.
Support Centre
Partner search has been enabled from Tally.ERP 9. While adding New Issues, the partner search feature enables the user to search for the partner based on the Location or Name.
Auditors’ Edition
Tax Audit
A new Report Clarification List has been provided from the Tax Audit dashboard to display all the Vouchers with Audit Status as Need Clarification and Clarified in one screenirrespective of the Clauses.
The relevant sections for TDS deductions made at Zero rate or Lower rate are displayed in the TDS Summary screen.
The option to Export the Tax Audit Annexures in HTML format has been provided.
While drilling down into the Clarified (to be re-audited) column on the Tax Audit Dashboard, the Customers Clarification will be displayed by default for all Clauses.

Average Details in Reports in Tally.ERP9
That you can view the Cash book daily, weekly or for any defined period with average and high/low value,
1. Go to Gateway of Tally > Display > Account Books > Cash/Bank Book(s). Select Cash > Enter
2. In F12: Configure, set Show Average Details and Show High/Low Details to Yes.
The configured report displays.
Note:
This report helps to track negative cash balances on a daily basis.
To select another cash account/ bank account in the same report and compare/monitor balances for the same period or compare with balances of the previous year/s,
Press Alt + C (New Column) > Specify the period > Select the respective ledger
The report with cash and bank comparison for the same period displays.
